What differentiates Akeneo Product Cloud from other similar products?

I think there are a few major differences that stand out to me. Akeneo reduces a lot of the IT reliance that most other platforms have, allowing for someone in a more business focused role to complete a lot of the tasks within the platform. The biggest one I think that I have noticed is direct channel optimization and customization. You can have the same attribute vary across multiple channels which makes syndication much cleaner, and in that same context you can also directly manipulate and control which attributes flow where, allowing for flexibility and customization in channel creation.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I would say my favorite aspect is likely the generative AI. We are starting to do much more with the generative AI aspect in relation to our product data models, and the Akeneo PIM features a prompt reviewer/writer function that really changes the game. You may write a prompt that comes in with a score of 44/100, but the prompt writer will correct it and make it come in at 90+. The best part about this is you can also preview whatever data point you are creating before applying it to your product to ensure it meets the expectations while getting warned about any missing data you may be trying to reference.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The biggest thing I have consistently relayed back to my Customer Success Manager is that it would be nice to be able to directly connect between Akeneo environments to syndicate data. We have a handful of business partners who have selected Akeneo PIM as their PIM of choice, but there currently is no option for us to directly connect in and share necessary product data to maybe ease their implementation process or meet data needs easier. Just being able to have this option without needing to burn an activation portal connection would be extremely useful for us.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Definitely have a predefined idea of how you want your implementation to work and flow. We attempted to try some new things and experiment with our implementation and had some pretty significant set backs during the process. We did not use an implementation partner (those are available), but after we sat down and really defined how we wanted our PIM and data models to look across a wider catalog it made things flow much easier. Develop a strategy first with designated people in charge of specific roles and really communicate regularly with your team.

Highly recommend using it as a Single Source of Truth and also their API to create different tools that showcase your products
