What do you dislike most about this product?

DB2 - A better solution for SQL Friendly Database

What differentiates IBM Db2 from other similar products?

DB2 is different from Azure / Cloud / GBQ due to it is mostly a Keyed Relational Databse Azure / Cloud / GBQ which is online and SQL Server based The best method to consider when migrating or installing a new product, is the "REPORTING METHOD" If you are Cloud - your Global access is larger and is unaffeted by one location, and can also be mirrored to multiple Cloud locations. DB2 on the other hand is more server based, and is not necessarily shared among several locations. Both however are maniuplated through Application, or SQL. Customzation is a bit more complex with DB2.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The Support The support for DB2 is universal, although in today's infrastructure - The Majority want Cloud. The Return on Investment with Cloud is somewhat evaned out in comarpsion to a DB2 Solution. DB2 is One location, or the Communcation Portals with DB2 is point to point. I like that AS400 DB2 and other forms of DB2 have been around for many years and has withstood all of the other competitors on the market.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The inability to migrate large amounts of data without emulating other hardware platforms. DB2 Is somewhat limited in Hardware application with Z/OS AS400 IBMi Server Baseed which is Emulated Mostly the issues becomes that most IT professionals of 2025 forward, are looking for ways to move to Cloud - not aware of the cost down the road.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Consider your reporting requirements first ! Then dial backwards to see where you wish to park your data systesm. Consider the platform locations that will house your data Cloud - Location is un warranted DB2 - Possible your location is your main office and limites access to portals, VPN, etc. Then measure your Backup and Restore solution, Cost, and manpower required. Finally - Understand that cost to implment, is not a fair measurement of cost to maintain.

What differentiates IBM Db2 from other similar products?

IBM DB2 - is more flexible, customizable , it has excellent documentation to help a user use the product efficiently . Since IBM DB2 V2, I have seen excellent new feature's for each release. Countless books by experts outside of IBM, The Instructors that help us fully understand the product are very helpful and caring. Other products tend to use the same features as IBM db2 but cannot compare to the efficiencies that are featured in IBM DB2 .

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The ease of coding Sql queries and the speed of execution. in Mainframe and Client Server platforms.

What do you dislike most about this product?

If something is coded bad, no warning that something may abend or just take a long time to execute.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

1. Speed at a low cost. 2 ease of coding. 3 Great support , 4 An Abundance of knowledgeable resources, (Books, people)
